Respite care is the provision of short-term accommodation in a facility outside the family home in which a loved one may be placed. This provides temporary relief to those who are caring for family members. Typically respite stays are 4 to 14 days. Simpson Manor accepts Residents up to 30 days, and as few at two nights for frequent guests.
We know caregivers make great efforts in providing care allowing the person to remain at their home. For many caregivers being “on call” 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and the physical, emotional or financial consequences can become overwhelming. What is needed is external trusted support, such as Simpson Manor's Respite Care services. Respite provides caregivers, often close relatives, a break from their daily care responsibilities and the time to tend to other needs, activities and obligations.
We understand you do wish your loved one retain their pride and dignity, and remain in the comfort and security of their own environment. But at some point, every caregiver needs a break to avoid burnout. The caregiver needs respite. Without breaks to maintain their own mental and physical wellness, caregivers can become sick or experience burnout. With no trusted, competent, caring person to turn to for assistance, it can be difficult to maintain a household, run errands, exercise, or even take a shower..
Simpson Manor's Respite Care is a safe, home-like environment where short term care is provided for a loved one. All bookings are managed by the Fraser Health Authority.
We enourage you to take a tour of our facility if you are seeking Respite care.
