Mobile services (also called Allied Services) include any services not directly provided by Simpson Manor staff. For such services, a professional visits Simpson on a schedule, or as needed to provide specialized activities.
The most common mobile services are noted below. These services may have a fee associated with them. All services must be authorized in advance and may be discontinued at any time.
Mobile services are optional. We will discuss them with you during your admission process. Payment for this mobile services will be paid on your behalf and included in your monthly billing statement.
The provision of pharmaceutical services is an integral part of the care provided to our Residents. The overall goal of the pharmaceutical services system is to ensure availability of physician ordered medications and their safe and effective use. By regulation, we required to contract services from an exclusive pharmacy. Thus all prescriptions must be supplied by the contracted Pharmacy to the residents.
All Residents at Simpson Manor receive a physiotherapy evaluation by our Physiotherapist. Additional physio services may be requested as necessary or desired. Physiotherapists help treat physical problems linked to a number of the body's systems such as musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems.
Oral care is vital to a person's well being. Problems with teeth, dentures, or gums can cause poor eating or be the unseen cause of pain, confusion, or infections. You are asked to visit a dentist prior to admission and yearly to prevent and/or identify problems. Our allied deltal partners include a dentist, denturist and dental hygienist. The dental hygiene goal is to recognize and/or prevent oral and dental concerns that may affect quality of life, and to keep the residents mouths healthy and comfortable. It will also help identify each resident’s oral health needs.
A Foot Care Nurse visits Simpson Manor on a regular basis. Regular foot check-ups can be very important in the early diagnosis of many illnesses. Proper foot care keeps your feet healthy, problem-free and helps ensure that you stay active and independent.
Music Therapy is valuable with the geriatric population for the maintenance and improvement of cognitive, physical, and socio-economic functioning. The benefits of music therapy may include an increase in social interaction, sensory simulation, personal expression, relaxation and general improvement in quality of life. Our Music Therapist offers one-to-one and group programs.
Simpson Manor has an in-house hairdressing salon located on the second floor near the nursing station. Resident Care staff will assist with making appointments, if requested. Our salon has been uniquely designed to make your salon visit memorable, with soft wood wainscotting, bright walls and a ceiling with a hint of blue sky.
Our Recreation department schedules regular Sunday services from a variety of churches. We will work with all residents to find the faith services they desire.
A companion may be non-medically trained, a nursing assistant or similar professional who is hired to work with one patient (or occasionally two). Primary duties often include providing social companionship, observation, assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), entertaining with hobbies, games, etc.
